The Inheritance of Purpose

— The Story of Dustin Lee Bayn

“I didn’t invent the spirit of Dennco. I inherited it. Piece by piece, through generations who quietly built the foundation before I ever touched a keyboard.”

— Dustin Lee Bayn, Founder & CEO

Dennco Holding Company’s cutting-edge innovations in technology and infrastructure are deeply rooted in a family legacy that spans arts, law, engineering, and education. Every branch of this lineage, from the visionary impulses of Dr. Joseph Maddy to the strategic acumen of R.C. Rieder, has contributed to the values and mission that drive Dennco today. In this foundational volume, we trace not only the proud history of the Bayn–Maddy–Reider families but also honor the transformative influence of often unsung heroes: Lori Henderson-Bayn and Dennis Bayn.

A Legacy Interwoven with Purpose

Dustin Lee Bayn was born on July 27, 1992, in Tawas, Michigan—a place where the crisp northern air and tight-knit community instilled in him a lifelong commitment to service, innovation, and resilience. Every facet of his identity is a mosaic of family stories and traditions that empower his vision. For Dustin, each family name isn’t just a label; it’s a chapter in a saga of creativity, hard work, and ethical leadership.

Great-Grandfather: Dr. Joseph Edgar Maddy — The Composer of Opportunity (1892–1966)

Conductor’s Portrait — Dr. Joseph E. Maddy

A pioneer in music education and a radical thinker for his time, Dr. Joseph Edgar Maddy believed that music should be a public right—not a private luxury. He founded the National High School Orchestra Camp in 1928, which later evolved into the Interlochen Center for the Arts.

But he didn’t stop at education—he engineered systems: national radio broadcasts, early distance learning, and large-scale coordination efforts for music education across America.

“Dr. Maddy didn’t just teach music — he democratized access to it. That spirit of scalable opportunity directly influenced the way we build our IT infrastructure and data systems today.”

— Dustin Bayn

His belief in access, excellence, and structure laid the cultural blueprint Dennco would one day build on.

Maternal Grandfather: Richard A. Maddy — The Quiet Compass (1949–2023)

Vietnam-era Navy veteran and lifelong outdoorsman, Richard A. Maddy quietly embodied the Maddy legacy through his grounded leadership, humility, and service-first values. The son of Dr. Joseph Maddy, he brought grit to the family’s genius and passed that mixture on to his daughter Lori, and later to his grandchildren.

Whether in a deer blind or a boat on the Au Sable, Richard was always observing, mentoring, and encouraging growth without saying a word too many. That quiet compass of strength continues to shape Dustin’s ethics today.

Great-Uncle: Rudolph Charles “R.C.” Rieder — The Executive Engineer (1915–2009)

Professional Portrait of R.C. Rieder

An alumnus of the University of Michigan, R.C. Rieder served as CEO and Chairman across multiple Fortune 500 industries, including aerospace, oil, and telecommunications. His mind was systems-oriented; his heart stayed rooted in Michigan.

Known for disappearing to fly fish near Grayling, he practiced balance between high-powered leadership and personal presence.

“His life proved you can design billion-dollar systems and still find peace in a trout stream.”

— Dustin Bayn

Dennco’s modular, fault-tolerant designs trace back to his blueprints—where structure meets elegance.

The Thread Between Bloodlines — Janet Elizabeth Rieder-Henderson, the Weaver of Legacies (1925–1990)

Janet Elizabeth Rieder-Henderson — Senior Portrait, University of Michigan (Circa 1940s)

Born in Saginaw, MichiganJanet Elizabeth Rieder-Henderson stood at the intersection of two powerful lineages: the principled infrastructure-builders of the Reider family, and the future Maddy line of musical, educational, and civic impact. She was the living embodiment of convergence—a scholar, a spiritual matriarch, and the woman who quietly wove together the tapestry of what would become the foundation for generations to follow.

A graduate of the University of Michigan, Janet pursued her degree in paleontology and natural sciences at a time when women in field sciences were a rarity. She participated in early dinosaur fossil classification projects, studying prehistoric life not just from textbooks, but through real academic inquiry and specimen work—making her one of the quiet pioneers of her era.

Her scientific curiosity and ambition took her even further. Janet went on to work for NASA, contributing to the golden era of aerospace discovery. Her mind, sharp and endlessly curious, found a fitting home in an institution defined by its reach beyond Earth. She didn’t just study life on this planet—she supported the mission to understand what lies beyond it. She also earned her pilot’s license, and found joy in the skies, navigating not just ideas, but airspace. Flying, for her, was both freedom and precision—a reflection of how she lived her life.

But her greatness didn’t end in academia or the skies.

It came to life on Anderson Road in Saginaw, MI, where she raised her daughter, Lori Henderson, as a single mother—balancing intellect and unconditional love. She didn’t view science and faith as contradictions. To Janet, both were forms of truth-seeking. Her days were a blend of reflection, rigorous thought, and service to something greater than herself.

“She didn’t just raise my mom. She linked generations.

She was the seam between two great families—and she made sure I’d never forget what stitched us together.”

— Dustin Lee Bayn

Mother: Lori Henderson-Bayn — Educator, Artist, and Community Pillar

Daughter of Richard A. Maddy and Janet Henderson, Lori Henderson-Bayn embodies the family’s dual strengths: compassion and intellect. A longtime teacher at Tawas Area Schools, she transformed classrooms into living ecosystems of learning, discipline, and self-expression.

Her unique events like “Chorus and Canvas” combined performance and visual art in ways that inspired not only students but the community at large.

“She taught me that leadership isn’t about control—it’s about cultivation.”

— Dustin Bayn

Lori’s philosophy lives on in Dennco’s talent-first culture and its mission to make complexity accessible.

Father: Dennis Bayn — The Builder Within the Walls

Dennis Bayn at Navy Pier — Chicago, Illinois

Dennis Bayn, Dustin’s father, began his journey as a school custodian and worked his way up to become Transportation and Maintenance Director of Tawas Area Schools. His influence came not from status but from relentless reliability.

Managing district-wide logistics and maintenance, Dennis created systems that people could depend on—just like Dennco’s modern infrastructures.

“Dad taught me: if you build it to last, you don’t have to say a word—they’ll know who built it.”

— Dustin Bayn

Sister: Caiti Bayn-O'Meara — The Bridge Between Health and Technology

— Dustin Bayn

Uncle (by Marriage): Dean A. Robb — The Defender of Justice (1924–2017)

A striking portrait By John L Russel. of Dean A. Robb, renowned civil rights attorney, justice-seeker, and lifelong champion of equality.

Dean A. Robb, civil rights attorney and reform advocate, was among Michigan’s most prominent legal minds. From fighting Jim Crow laws to defending environmental whistleblowers, Robb used the courtroom as a battleground for human rights.

He married Cindy Mathias Robb, becoming uncle to Dustin by family union—and legacy by example.

“Uncle Dean didn’t walk into court for applause—he walked in for justice.”

— Dustin Bayn

Dennco’s data ethics policies and commitment to digital transparency are a direct reflection of his influence.

Purpose Isn’t Inherited — It’s Activated

Dennco is not a company that sprang from a spreadsheet or a trend. It is a structure—reinforced by a family that built with intention, served with humility, and innovated with conscience.

From Janet’s fossil fields to Dean’s courtrooms, from Richard’s silence to Lori’s voice, from Dennis’s tools to Ben’s Times Square lights—every chapter helped construct the philosophy behind Dustin Bayn’s vision.

And with that vision, Dennco stands not just as a tech company—but as a living testament to legacy, ethics, and scalable purpose.
